Redhouse Communications Mast
Brief
Next had problems connecting the Redhouse site to the internet and group servers. They needed a mast erected to carry the necessary electrical antenna equipment, which could link to the Elmsall site circa 5 miles away.
Challenges:
Nothing was readily available to purchase and install to connect to the existing structure, which was circa 20m to eaves in height and had an overhanging eaves gutter and soffit. The site is also a 24/7 operation.



Results
We designed the mast utilising a structural hot rolled tubular section along with the connections back to the existing steel columns and cladding envelope. On-site, the cladding was removed in designated locations to enable the connections back to the steel columns, plus a hole formed in the overhang and soffit; all re-sealed after completion. The new mast was craned above the roof, lowered through the soffit, and connected back to the building. Guy ropes were installed and linked back to numerous points on the roof to provide added stability. The Antenna was connected to the top of the mast. The connection was made back to Elmsall, and the site has full connectivity.
